St. Johns, FLORIDA

ELM provided comprehensive community master planning and recreational trail design for the 1,300-acre TrailMark single-family residential neighborhood situated among the waterways and lakes created by Six Mile Creek. The ELM design team also provided architectural and landscape architectural services for the 6,900-square-foot outdoor-inspired amenities and welcome center that serves as the central social and recreational hub of the community.

Construction began in January 2016 on the TrailMark amenities and welcome center, which are anticipated to open in late summer or fall 2016. The ELM-designed amenities will include a 1,900-sq-ft state-of-the-art fitness center overlooking a free-form resort-style pool with beach entry.

The Camp House, a 1,990-sq-ft open-air pavilion, will serve as the social heart of the community where residents can enjoy a variety of events and social activities while enjoying waterfront views of the large central lake. The TrailMark amenity will also offer a multi-purpose playfields as well as a variety of sports courts, including sand volleyball, pickleball, four square, and a basketball court.

One of the most distinguishing features of the new TrailMark community will be the expansive bike and pedestrian trail system that the ELM has integrated throughout the master plan to fully engage the neighborhood parks and preserved forests. The first phase of this recreational amenity will connect residents to their community, amenities and the surrounding natural environment. Future plans also include a kayak launch along Six Mile Creek.

TrailMark’s design is inspired by that community’s unique hallmark location and its quintessential Northeast Florida natural elements. We focused on incorporating these character-defining qualities into every aspect of the community’s design, including amenities, parks, signage, trails and other details that will create TrailMark’s quality of life.
