Meet the Team: Willie Horan
Welcome to Meet the Team—a blog series where we’ll be introducing members of our team to give you an insight into our culture and the people behind our projects!
Continuing with our landscape team features in honor of World Landscape Architecture Month, today we’re introducing you to Willie Horan. Willie’s hometown is Nahunta, GA, and he’s an alum of the University of Georgia (and got to return to his alma mater to represent ELM at UGA’s College of Environment and Design Career Fair earlier this year).

Tell us about your career, and how you became interested in landscape architecture.
I've always had a love for horticulture and art.
What is your role at ELM, and what are your favorite parts of the job?
I am an associate Landscape Architect, at ELM, and my favorite part of the job is seeing our designs come to life.
What are some of your favorite projects that you've worked on throughout your career?
I’ve most enjoyed working on various local community garden projects and most recently have really enjoyed designing the employee amenity gardens for VanTrust at Town Center II in Jacksonville’s Southside, and Florida Public Utility (FPU)’s headquarters at Wildlight in Nassau County, just north of Jacksonville.
What are some industry trends/changes/etc. that you are excited about, or that have influenced your work recently?
I'm excited about further development of ecological practices of landscape architecture.
Have you seen any local examples of inspiring design or landscape architecture lately?
The learning garden at the Ponte Vedra public library is a great example of good local design!
What are your favorite things to do outside the office?
Looking after my new son, Ezra, surfing and yoga.
What do you enjoy most about living in Jacksonville?
All of the water and flora.
